Colonel Waller Tazewell Patton
KIA at Gettysburg leading the 7th Virginia Infantry. Buried here alongside his brother Colonel George Smith Patton who fought at Cool Springs leading Echols' Brigade with his old Regiment of Western Virginians, the 22nd Virginia Infantry CSA. He being the grandfather of General George S. Patton of WWII fame. Colonel Patton was mortally wounded at the Battle of Opequon Creek, refused to have his leg amputated, and died.
